A launch title for the PSVR 2, Gran Turismo 7 on the PS5 is an exhilarating virtual experience like no other. Whether it’s the lights, the racetracks, or the cars, the racing simulation video game developed by Polyphony Digital successfully established a generational benchmark for other developers to aspire to. With more sensory and higher fidelity compared to its predecessor, the PlayStation 5 exclusive is a massive step up in the visuals department, owing much to the eye-tracking-based foveated rendering in use. Even till this day, Gran Turismo 7 ‘s PSVR2 version offers something that’s unrivaled in the console space, delivering the sensory overload we’d expect from sitting in a real racing car.

*Gran Turismo 7 is compatible with the Dualsense controller and various racing wheels, Sense controllers are not required/supported. VR mode is free if you’d already purchased the game.

Half-Life: Alyx – On PC

Half-Life: Alyx

Often regarded as virtual reality’s killer app, Half-Life: Alyx’s contribution to the medium cannot be understated. From its stellar graphics to incredible voice acting, the latest installment in the Half-Life franchise masterfully incorporates combat, puzzles and exploration into its gameplay, allowing players to utilise virtual reality to a remarkable extent. Taking full advantage of the medium, the exhilaration of Half-Life: Alyx is its ability to allow its players to interact with its environment, to be able to touch it, and ultimately live inside the world. With a higher playerbase thanks to the PSVR 2 adapter, we hope that a next installment on virtual reality is in the pipeline.

Resident Evil 4 – On PlayStation 5

Resident Evil 4 Remake is great, Resident Evil 4 Remake in VR is something else entirely. An already superb game that’s even better in VR, the VR edition of the latest Resident Evil game continues Capcom’s amazing offering on the VR front. Like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil: Village, Resident Evil 4 in virtual reality is an immersive ride from beginning to end. Whether it’s the ability to reach for weapons on your belt, or the sensation of running away from a devouring bio-weapon, capcom’s latest offering in VR is a triumph that deserves to be experienced. The icing on the cake? The VR mode is completely free if you already own Resident Evil 4 Remake. Now talk about an offer you can’t refuse.

No Man’s Sky – On PlayStation 5

No Man’s Sky

After an unfortunate launch back in 2016, Hello Games worked tirelessly to regain good will from gamers, ultimately becoming the pinnacle of video game comebacks. On top of delivering features that were promised at launch, No Man’s Sky has been exponentially expanded beyond many gamers’ wildest dreams. Although Hello Games first added full VR support for No Man’s Sky on the first PSVR back in 2019, it was hindered by the technical limits of the headset. For the PSVR 2 however, the developer released a native VR edition of the game that takes full advantage of the headset’s next generation hardware. Whether it’s piloting a spaceship, or the ability to look up and stare at the nearby stars through the cockpit, the VR version of No Man’s Sky on the PlayStation 5 is an awe-inspiring experience that you do not want to miss.

*The VR upgrade of No Man’s Sky is free as well, if you’d already own the game.

Microsoft Flight Simulator – On PC

The PSVR 2 PC Adapter opens up possibilities previously deemed to be unimaginable. Released on the Xbox Series X and Series S back in 2021, Microsoft Flight Simulator is the first game in the series to see a VR and console release, with it being released on the Xbox Series X and Series S on July 27, 2021. From gliders and helicopters to wide-body jets, the highly detailed and accurate aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator is a wonder to behold. Thanks to the headset’s stunning OLED display, the game’s inherent realism and futuristic sensation are further elevated. While far from being a perfect game, Microsoft Flight Simulator makes you feel like a truly capable pilot during its best moment.

Moss: Book II – On PlayStation 5

We love a good indie game. A stark visual improvements over the game’s predecessor on the original PSVR, each segment of Moss: Book II is like a beautifully detailed diorama with superb attention to lighting, design, and composition. While the PSVR2 version of the game isn’t life-changing, it is definitely best way to experience Quill’s latest adventure. Taking advantage of the headset’s technical features, the PSVR 2 version of Moss: Book II boasts extra visual fidelity that’s gorgeous to look at. In addition, the haptic feedback from the Sense controllers enhances the overall immersion of the experience.

*Polyarc also released an updated PSVR 2 version of the first game, available to purchase alongside Moss: Book II

Resident Evil Village – On PlayStation 5

Resident Evil: Village

The aforementioned Resident Evil: Village in VR looks absolutely phenomenal. Capturing a level of realism that is simply unobtainable in its “flat version”, Capcom went above and beyond in delivering a truly remarkable VR experience that’s deserving of the highest praise. Thanks to the superb features of the Sense controllers, Resident Evil: Village in VR offers a tactile quality that’s incredibly immersive. Firing off a shotgun has never felt this good before. Having outdone themselves on the VR front (previously with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard), we’re crossing our fingers in hopes that Capcom is in the VR business for the long run.
